Product Carbon Footprint Support

ConformArc handles the initial enquiry and helps connect you with a relevant provider for this requirement. The selected provider confirms applicability, technical scope, deliverables, fees and timing. The following explains work that may be relevant to the project; it is not a fixed package supplied by ConformArc.

Product carbon footprint ISO 14067 greenhouse-gas data inputs

Who this is for

Manufacturers and exporters that need product-level greenhouse-gas information for customers, design, declarations or supply-chain reporting.

Typical work to discuss with a provider

  • Product/unit and system-boundary definition
  • Data-source and allocation framework
  • Energy/logistics/material input collection
  • Specialist calculation/report coordination
  • Assumption and uncertainty review
  • Separate verification coordination where required

Useful inputs for an initial review

  • Product definition
  • BOM
  • Site and energy data
  • Material quantities
  • Production volumes
  • Transport
  • Data year and the customer's requested method or format
Scope and report acceptance. A product footprint is separate from organisation-wide emissions. It is not automatically a carbon-neutral claim, an EPD or CBAM compliance.
Role clarity. Enquiry support and specialist introductions. Testing, technical advice, certification and regulatory decisions remain with the responsible service providers and authorities.

A product carbon footprint (PCF) focuses on greenhouse-gas emissions associated with a defined product system. Manufacturers use it for customer data requests, design decisions and supply-chain reporting. ConformArc helps turn the request into a clear unit, boundary, data plan and specialist calculation workstream.

Make the result traceable

The study should state the product and unit, life-cycle stages included, reporting period, source data, allocation choices, emission factors, exclusions and uncertainty. ISO 14067 can provide a framework for product-level climate-change quantification, where applicable to the agreed purpose. A factory’s organisation-wide inventory, an EPD and a CBAM dataset answer different questions and cannot be substituted automatically.

The engagement can include a customer-requirement review, data-gap map, manufacturing and upstream input collection, specialist calculation, report review and separate independent verification coordination if needed. Results should be reported with assumptions and limitations; a number without a boundary is difficult to use responsibly.

Frequently asked questions

Can a PCF include only manufacturing?

A partial boundary may be appropriate for a defined purpose, but it must be stated clearly and must satisfy the recipient's rules.

Is a PCF an EPD?

No. An EPD is a programme-based declaration that may include multiple environmental indicators.

Does a PCF make the product carbon neutral?

No. A footprint calculation alone does not establish that claim.
