CBAM carbon emissions data preparation for India exporters to the EU

Who this is for

Non-EU manufacturers and exporters of goods potentially covered by the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism.

Typical work to discuss with a provider

  • Covered-goods and code applicability review support
  • Installation/product data-gap assessment
  • Production and emissions-data framework
  • Method and documentation coordination
  • Verification-readiness coordination where applicable
  • Supply-chain information package support

Useful inputs for an initial review

  • Product descriptions and customs codes
  • Installations
  • Process flow
  • Production quantities
  • Fuel and electricity use
  • Existing emissions calculations
  • Reporting period and the EU customer's request
Scope and report acceptance. The definitive CBAM regime applies from 1 January 2026. An ordinary LCA or PCF cannot automatically substitute for CBAM calculations. Exporter data support is distinct from the legal obligations of the EU importer or authorised declarant.
Role clarity. Enquiry support and specialist introductions. Testing, technical advice, certification and regulatory decisions remain with the responsible service providers and authorities.

EU customers importing covered goods may request installation and emissions information from their suppliers. An exporter needs to identify whether the goods and customs codes fall within the current CBAM scope and what information the EU importer or authorised declarant actually needs. ConformArc helps organise that data workstream with appropriate specialists.

Confirm the product and reporting rules

The EU’s definitive CBAM regime began in 2026, but coverage, thresholds, methods, default values, verification and reporting responsibilities must be checked against the rules applicable to the particular goods and period. The exporter supplies relevant information; the EU importer or authorised declarant has its own legal obligations. An ordinary corporate emissions inventory, LCA or PCF is not automatically a compliant CBAM calculation.

We can coordinate a goods-code and scope screen, installation and process map, production and energy inputs, emissions-data gap register, documentation package and verification-readiness questions where applicable. The output should identify the data owner, method, reporting period and information still requiring independent validation.
